Short version: TC Companion stores your work data on your device. Your account email and secure sign-in details are handled by Clerk so you can access future purchases across devices. If you enable Shift Weather, your approximate location is used only to retrieve local weather from MET Norway. We do not sell personal information.
TC Companion is developed and published by Jamie Christensen ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the TC Companion iOS application handles information.
TC Companion stores the following information locally on your device only:
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share or export a report yourself (for example, emailing a PDF to your employer). We have no access to it.
When you create an account, Clerk processes your email address, password authentication data, verification status, session information, and any Google profile details you choose to use for sign-in. We use Clerk's stable account identifier to connect future in-app purchases and scan-credit entitlements to the correct customer. TC Companion does not receive or store your password.
The app requests access to your device camera to scan truck licence plates and to capture site-plan or installation images when you choose those tools. On supported iPhones, live plate recognition is performed on-device using Apple VisionKit: no photo is created, saved, or uploaded. If you explicitly choose the Photo AI fallback, that captured plate image is sent to our secure API server to extract the plate text and is then discarded immediately — we do not store, log, or share the image or extracted plate number on our servers.
If you enable Shift Weather, the app sends your approximate current coordinates through our API to retrieve local conditions and rain forecasts from MET Norway. We do not retain those coordinates. The latest weather result is cached on your device, and forecast responses may be cached briefly by our API to avoid unnecessary provider requests. You can disable location access at any time in iPhone Settings.

Account registration and authentication are provided by Clerk. Clerk processes account and session information to create, secure, and operate your login. You can review Clerk's privacy policy at clerk.com/legal/privacy.
TC Companion may display advertisements served by Google AdMob. Google's own privacy policy governs how AdMob handles data; you can review it at policies.google.com/privacy. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers to serve contextual ads. You can limit ad tracking in your iPhone's Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Optional Shift Weather forecasts are provided by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) and used under the CC BY 4.0 licence. Approximate coordinates pass through our API only when retrieving weather and are not retained. No other third-party analytics, tracking, or data-sharing SDKs are used.
All shift and truck data is stored only on your device. You can delete it by clearing the app's data within the app or by uninstalling the app. You can permanently delete your account from Settings in TC Companion. Account deletion removes the Clerk identity used for sign-in and future purchases, but does not erase work records stored locally on your device. We hold no server copies of those work records and cannot recover them for you.
TC Companion is intended for professional use by adults in the construction and traffic control industries. It is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
